LashedUp Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how LashedUp ("LashedUp", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use the LashedUp mobile application and website (together, the "Service"). LashedUp is a mooring ball marketplace that connects boaters with mooring ball providers, and supports booking, payments, and location-based check-in/check-out. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information — your name, email address, profile photo, and password (or third-party sign-in identifier such as Google or Apple).
- Boat and trip information — details about your vessel and your reservations, trips, and check-in/check-out records.
- Provider information — if you list mooring balls, your business profile, mooring listings, and verification documents you choose to send us.
- Payment information — payments and payouts are processed by Stripe. Card and bank details are collected and stored by Stripe, not by LashedUp. We receive limited transaction data (such as amounts, status, and the last four digits of a card).
- Communications — messages, support requests, and feedback you send us.
Information collected automatically
- Location data — see the dedicated Location Data section below.
- Device and usage data — device type, operating system, app version, language, and diagnostic and crash information used to operate and improve the Service.
- Push token — a Firebase Cloud Messaging token so we can deliver notifications and alerts you have enabled.
Location Data
LashedUp uses your device location to power the core features of the Service. We request your permission in the app before accessing location, and we always show an in-app explanation immediately before the system permission prompt.
- Foreground (while using the app) — to show your position on the map, find nearby mooring balls, and confirm you are at a mooring when you check in or out.
- Background ("Allow all the time") — optional, and only if you enable geo-fence alerts. With background access, LashedUp can monitor your boat's position relative to its mooring and notify you of drift or boundary alerts even when the app is closed or not in use. You can use the rest of the app without granting background access.
You can change or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. Disabling location will limit features that depend on it, such as nearby search, check-in/check-out, and geo-fence alerts.
How We Use Information
- To provide, operate, and maintain the Service and your account.
- To process bookings, payments, and payouts.
- To show nearby mooring balls and enable check-in/check-out and geo-fence alerts.
- To send transactional messages, reservation updates, and alerts you have enabled.
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.
- To comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described here:
- Other parties to a booking — when you reserve a mooring or accept a reservation, we share the information needed to complete and manage that booking with the other party (for example, the boater's name and the provider's mooring details).
- Payment processing — with Stripe to process payments and provider payouts.
- Infrastructure providers — with Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, hosting, and messaging) to host and run the Service.
- Legal and safety — when required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of LashedUp, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and as required to meet legal, tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. Payment credentials are handled by Stripe under PCI-DSS standards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights and Choices
- Access, update, or correct your profile information in the app.
- Change location and notification permissions in your device settings at any time.
- Request deletion of your account and data (see above).
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, port, or delete your data, or to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.
Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can delete it.
International Users
LashedUp is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand your information may be processed in the United States and other countries with different data-protection laws than your own.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
